Barney Kessel rose to prominence in the early-mid 50's, and was a contemporary of both Joe Pass and Wes Montgomery. Although Joe and Barney never formally crossed paths in the studio (to my knowledge), there is tremendous overlap in their musical sensibilities, and the two shared a long list of common collaborators.

Barney is my second favorite jazz guitarist, after Joe Pass... so it seems logical to compare and contrast their styles/arrangements, song by song.
