KULT News cameras were in Eaton, OH on Oct. 20, 2023 where it was a drizzly day and multiple calls were made to the police about a man on the sidewalk taking photos.
And that was just one woman at US Bank and she wouldn’t be the only Karen flipping out over a camera this day.
Would the local police make a photojournalist in public their top priority or would they ignore the pleas of the local banker Karens and just honk and wave as they drive by?

Laws may vary but, generally speaking, in the United States, if you are in public you are legally able to photograph whatever you can see. Simply put, your eyes can’t be trespassed. Obviously there are some restrictions on this (i.e., bathrooms, dressing rooms, most courtrooms, locker rooms, etc.) but very few when you are in public. If you can see it, you can shoot it (this rule only applies to cameras.) This is not legal advice.
