"Ballarò" is a melody composed by Francesco Riotta, performed for us by the skilled player Theodore Koumartzis on a LUTHIEROS Lyre of Hermes, and on the guitar by the multitalented composer.
The video session took place at Palermo, the capital of today's Sicily, and a city noted for its history, culture, architecture, and gastronomy. The modern city is located on the ancient Greek colony of Panormos, initially inhabited by Phoenicians in 734 BC.

🎬 Film d'auteur: Nikolaos Koumartzis

🎙️ Who is Theodore?
Theodore is the youngest brother of the Koumartzis family. Being part of the family's endeavor since its early stage, he soon came to be an inspiring top-notch lyre player, constantly learning and experimenting with musicians around the world.
He is the founder of the PAUSIS Project, a curator at the SEIKILO Museum of Ancient Music in Greece (Thessaloniki), and an integral part of LUTHIEROS Music Instruments.

🎙️ Who is Francesco?
Francesco Riotta is a Sicilian singer, songwriter, and guitarist.
He began to play the guitar when he was 13-year-old thanks to his father; during his youth, his passion for music and his deep interest in Africa led him to live in the intercultural neighborhood of Ballarò and the Piazza Santa Chiara of the historical center of Palermo. The foreign communities introduced him to an interesting mix between tradition and interculturality, and in this context, his music absorbs different musical influences: reggae, afro, ska, and Sicilian music.
In 2004 he won the musical competition "Musica contro la mafia," and opened the commemoration of the Capaci massacre that killed judge Giovanni Falcone.
In 2007 he formed the "Famiglia del sud" with her sister, Sista Tita, and they launced an EP (Sisé Kolombalì & Sista Tita, 2009) and a music album (Meglio Tardi che mai, 2016).
Since 2009, he began to perform solo in different cities abroad (France, Greece, Italy, Spain, and Turkey), meeting artists and discovering formerly unknown musical realities.
