Hold me dearly in your arms until my soul is gone. ― Cypriot poem
A troubadour song of a bygone era, originated from the island country of Cyprus, that speaks of true love and the acceptance of death that will eventually come for everyone, as a result of us being mortals.
The melody is sweetly performed by Andrie Evripidou, a gifted local Blues singer. The video recordings took place at Ioanna Kalogirou atelier in Cyprus during May 2021 as part of the SEIKILO team visiting the island.
"Τριανταφυλλένη" (in Cypriot) or "Made of Rose" is a moving troubadour's poem that has been set to music by many artists. It is a love & death song that talks about the need of the poet to reach his beloved for one last time. Being unable to leave his deathbed, the poet gives all the motivation needed for her to defy every danger and fear and run to him for the final goodbye.
Each verse brings horror and admiration for the wonderful way that the poet gives courage to his beloved for the end that is almost there. It is a song about true love and self-denial in so many senses.
Many famous medieval figures lived and thrived in these lands, from Richard the Lionheart to the Knights Templar, resulting in a rich western medieval culture.

⚪ Who is Andrie?
Andrie is a Cypriot singer who loves voice improvisation and freedom when she sings. She is particularly influenced by blues and jazz through which she has vocally experimented. She has collaborated with musicians from different backgrounds in Greece while now, when possible, she continues her experimentations with the musical team of the Reggetiko Project.
