Autumn Garden, Winter wood prep.Bosch AXT 2200 mulcher/ shredder. Using a Log Grenade to split wood
Despite being a very hot and dry Summer my veg plot did amazing.
I still have produce coming to harvest that will keep me going for several months yet and all from a rather small garden.
I recently purchased a Bosch AXT rapid 20 shredder to shred and mulch garden waste which I then add to my Hotbin composter. This means the composting process gets going very quickly producing usable compost in just a few months if not weeks.
I add this "New" compost into my old Dalek style cold bin where it sits and matures until needed. Sofar this year I have produced around 300 litres of very good quality home brew compost. I plan on adding this to the veg beds, just a couple of inches applied on the top over Winter, then led the Winter rains and earthworms take down the valuable nutrients to add fertility for next seasons crops.
I am practicing No Dig here and have had good results and very few weeds.
Next year I shall be expanding the plot a little and I hope to add a smallish 8ft by 12ft poly tunnel and a few more buckets for potatoes.
Winter is just around the corner and my thoughts turn to fuel for the Wood stove, wood prep, splitting storing all watched by a faithful 4 legged companion:)
I recently installed a new to me wood stove, a Charnwood Country 6, this has replaced my old Yeoman Exe stove. The Charnwood has just a slightly higher heat output, the glass stays cleaner and also the stove is slightly more efficient and meets Defra guidelines for use in smoke control zones.
I also purchased a stove top fan and am quite pleased with how well this circulates the heat.
