As the purpose of this project is to thoroughly wrap the door panel in leather it was necessary to also upholster the cargo pocket which goes assembled to main plastic frame from the back.
To do the pocket interior shape, I first made a cardboard template that was then transferred to leather material. To ease the process the leather material was skived to a 1 mm thickness. The leather piece was glued down to plastic piece by using regular upholstery yellow contact cement/glue.
As we can see, the 'corner cut joints' in the corner were joined with 'carpenters' glue'.
