Drumming Bear Automaton, circa 1880. Roullet and Decamps, Paris. Bought from an auction in the south of England as a box of pieces. A previous restorer had inappropriately used fibre glass to coat the papier mache and glue and bandages to coat the head. The mechanism was rusted solid and there was no fur left. The restoration took many hours and was televised for a TV programme.
