Artificial intelligence is transforming repairs to our wastewater pipeline network by semi-automating the review of CCTV inspection footage. Thanks to a partnership with VAPAR, an Australian firm founded by two female engineers, our inspection time has reduced by 80%. Every year we browse 1,000km of pipeline footage to check for pipe damage, or obstructions which can lead to flooding. Thanks to the success of the pilot, this technology, which first caught our attention through the Innovation Lab, is now being rolled out across the business.
