The Pacific / Eastern Koel Migrates to Northern and Eastern Australia to Breed. They are a member of the Cuckoo family and in common with most Cuckoos worldwide, lay their eggs in other species nests. The host species is left to hatch and raise the chick which can be several times the size and weight of the adopted parent.
I made this brief video as there is often debate on my channel about the Koel's calls. Some express anger towards the birds as they call throughout the night, leading to sleep deprivation. Others love the call as it recalls childhood memories or evokes a feeling of summer. Either way, it is a bird that polarizes opinion. What do you think?
