The Glossy-black Cockatoo is a small and dainty Cockatoo that has a very restricted range down the east Coast of Australia and into South Australia. They are quite rare and seldom seen in groups of more than ten and mostly seen in pairs or small family parties. The Glossies tend to wander looking for suitable food sources, mainly Casuarina trees. They are often first noticed by their gentle 'trumpet call' as displayed in the video. Most of this video shows the adult male, apart from the clip at the end which shows a young bird. I have observed this species in many locations but these were filmed in Noosa on the Sunshine Coast. Tim Siggs.ABVC. This bird Video is part of my channel started in 2015. Many of the bird clips are taken from hides or blinds that I construct from bush materials, saving the need to carry a hide to a location.
Knowing bird calls and song is a big part of finding each species and naturally, knowing the habitat requirements helps also.
