Today's video is a shoot-out between two modern hardware poly synths: the ASM Hydrasynth Explorer and the Arturia MiniFreak. These two compact polyphonic synthesizers sit within the same price range of around 500 squid, but are very different animals! The Hydrasynth is an incredibly deep sound design machine focusing on wavetables, whereas the MiniFreak builds on the synth engines designed by Mutable Instruments and brings them into full true polyphony. After giving brief overviews on both synths I dive into some of my own presets before having a jam and discussing the pros and cons of each.
