This army show of weapons and firepower was aimed to build morale and as a form of propaganda.
On May 21, 1956 the US military showcased their firepower on Armed Forces day. Across the nation the Navy, Army and Marines displayed their latest technologies to the public including the Chrysler built guided missile. In Florida, pilots gave onlookers the thrill of a lifetime when they shot down a B17 bomber and another Cougar jet crash landed on a US aircraft carrier.
