This funny house was invented to maximize space and save money. The circle shaped home never caught on and eventually failed.
In 1945 the US was at the peak of it's housing crisis, and needed a fast and durable solution to house all of the citizens. The solution was an invention by Buckminster Fuller in 1929, but his idea was redesigned in 1945. Fuller's invention: a circular house that could quickly and easily be assembled and shipped. Fuller called his invention the Dymaxion House, and it's frame was made of stainless steel with an aluminum body. HIs idea failed because the energy needed to heat and light the aluminum house wasn't practical and was replaced by later designs incorporating materials like tile and concrete.
