Argine Castle is a fortification located in the homonymous hamlet of the Italian municipality of Bressana Bottarone, in the province of Pavia. The building is located on the edge of the town, at 69 m above sea level, not far from the Coppa stream, in the open Po Valley. Its construction dates back to the 14th-15th century and its characteristics are typical of the castles of Pavia. In the 15th century it belonged to the feudal team of Casteggio, enfeoffed to Angelo Simonetta, in 1466 to the Visconti di Modrone. With the Treaty of Worms of 1743 Argine was incorporated into the territories of the House of Savoy. Over the centuries, the castle was subject to numerous renovations and reworkings, including a closing of the spaces between the battlements aimed at recovering the upper floor of the building. It is now owned by the Marquis Fassati and its intended use has changed from defense to residential. This castle, built in brick, has the typical characteristics of plain architecture, has a square plan with central courtyard, towers with the edges, perhaps four originally, and were surrounding. Today it is equipped with a large square tower that rises beyond the body of the factory, a tower of smaller size on the south front and a sketch of tower without windows and battlements in the north. The drawbridge has given way to a fixed masonry bridge. On the perimeter walls there are the signs of the renovations that occurred in the eighteenth century. It has a scarpato base and a dentine frieze on towers and facades.
