I ask a question that might hit a little too close to home: Are farmers and ranchers willing to do this job for free?

Because when you look at the numbers—and the reality on the ground—it sure seems like a lot of folks are.

Half of farming operations not turning a profit. Operations being subsidized by off-farm income. People sticking with it not because it makes financial sense, but because it’s what they’ve always done… or who they believe they are.

No other business operates like this.
