![Setting Secure DNS Windows 11 Browser
Secure DNS in Google Chrome is a privacy and security feature that utilizes DNS-over-HTTPS (DoH). Instead of sending your website requests in plain text—which anyone on your network could see—it encrypts them, ensuring your ISP or a hacker on public Wi-Fi cant track which sites you are visiting.

00:03 Secure DNS is automatically
03:39 Secure DNS is like accessing the internet, browsing normally
Privacy: Encrypts your DNS lookups so your browsing history is harder to intercept.
Security: Prevents DNS spoofing or hijacking, where an attacker redirects you to a fake phishing website.
Integrity: Ensures that the IP address Chrome receives is the genuine one for the site you requested.
Performance: Often faster than default ISP servers when using high-speed providers like Cloudflare or Google.
How to Enable Secure DNS
Open Chrome and click the three dots (⋮) in the top-right corner.
Select Settings - Privacy and security.
Click on Security.
Scroll down to the Advanced section.
Toggle Use secure DNS to On.
Automatic: Uses your current service provider (if they support DoH).
With [Provider]: Allows you to choose a custom provider like Cloudflare (1.1.1.1), Google (8.8.8.8), or CleanBrowsing (for family filtering).
Troubleshooting Setting is Disabled
If the option is greyed out or says its managed by your organization, it is usually due to:
Work/School Managed Devices: Administrators often lock these settings to enforce network policies.
Parental Controls: Windows or macOS family safety features may override browser DNS.
Registry Policies: Sometimes malware or old software leaves behind policies that disable the toggle. You can check these by typing chrome://policy in your address bar. Setting Secure DNS Windows 11 Browser](https://i.ytimg.com/vi/qBqvnumuu3Q/mqdefault.jpg)
