It’s time for us to take a look at the newest Ardbeg Day release. New for 2019 is Ardbeg Drum which will be bottled at 52% abv for the Committee Release and 46% for the standard release that will follow. Reports vary on the msrp of the standard release (some say $110), but the committee version is selling for $150. What makes Ardbeg Drum unique is that it’s finished in rum casks. Upon initial opening of the bottle, the rum influence wasn’t as noticeable as I had hoped but given some time and air those tones intensify. Is it enough to push this $150 expression into the “must buy” territory? Let’s find out.
