Wolf expert Anneka Svenska travels deep into the frozen wilderness of Canada to come face to face with one of the most beautiful and mysterious wolves on Earth… the Arctic wolf.
Living high above the Arctic Circle in temperatures below -40°C, only an estimated few thousand Arctic wolves remain in the wild — surviving in one of the harshest environments on the planet. Yet unlike many other wolves, they are famously curious and unusually brave around humans, largely because so few people have ever entered their remote frozen world.
In this episode of Animal Watch, Anneka gets up unbelievably close to pure Arctic wolves at 'A Wolf Adventure Outreach & Retreat' founded by wolf whisperer Sky Phoenix. Anneka uncovers the truth behind their behaviour, experience their strange mouth greetings, meets the incredible statuesque Halo and wriggly affectionate Princess Mononoke, and discovers how these extraordinary animals are helping humans heal through deep emotional connection.
Anneka also documents the devastatingly tragic story of Kodama, a baby artic wolf who escaped the sanctuary 2 years ago and was shot in cold blood by a neighboring Living Waters Bible Camp despite being tame and gentle and playing with the camp's children like a pet dog. A story that is still shoking until this present day.
However behind the beauty of this sanctuary lies a heartbreaking reality… because the sanctuary protecting these wolves is now fighting for survival. 💔
The sanctuary needs to raise £35,000 by the end of July to save these wolves' land from being sold out from under them. Anneka has started a JUST GIVING page with some unbelievable wolf experiences to be won simply by donating to save these wolves.
