A step backwards and forward.
I do not really have any strong feelings for this fight in the previous versions since they're quite easy to beat there. So it's quite amusing to me how the Hierophant became much more inconsequential while the Lovers became much more interesting.
To start with, from a casual player's perspective, I believe that changing the moves the Hierophant does from Elec to Light would be a welcomed addition since Yukari (who is weak to elec) is forced to be brought on this day. But personally, this doesn't seem to have done much change to how the boss is fought. Seeing that one can obtain resist elec armor in the Vanilla version and FES. And in P3P, guarding is an option. Overall it just doesn't seem like Hierophant is changed much. I think it became less tanky too. That or Getsu-Ei is more overtuned compared to its previous counterparts now.
The Lovers, on the other hand, became much more engaging. I have a strong feeling that majority of players did not even know Heartbreaker exists in the previous versions. It's just that rare to see there. But now, that doesn't seem to be the case. And I'm glad for that. Getting charmed is still not important since Yukari goes first and there's a chance members will simply shrug it off immediately. At the very least, it seems to heal itself over time. Making it more of a damage rush type of boss. Overall, the Lovers is still not much of a threat, but it became more engaging now in my opinion. And I like that.
Too bad both of them got melted so quickly by Getsu-Ei. I suspect this will be a more common occurrence later for enemies without Vulnerability or Weakness. But I think magic will have its time to shine later on.
Oh yes, I apparently got the steam achievement for more than 999 damage during the Lovers fight so you'll hear that notification ping there.
