Rose calls this moist, naturally sweet apple cake a “cake stand cake”—type of cake she’d always have in her cake stand at home, for snacking throughout the week. Based on Greek apple cake, milopita, we’ve also nicknamed it “apple cider doughnut cake,” because it gets reminiscent flavor from a double dose of apple cider, both in the crumb and the soaking syrup.
