In both instances, the game tries to focus on an object that doesn't exist.

For some reason, I had thought that the "You appear lost" cutscene couldn't play if a paper bag has already been crushed. Although the timer resets if the Reunion cutscene plays, I can actually perform CTS on the "You appear lost" cutscene timer and keep it on other files. However, it has unintended side effects...
Besides crashes, I also show that I can get Ghost Bag if the "You appear lost" cutscene plays in Valley of Repose, even if the bag has been crushed for a long time.

It seems like the act of crushing the paper bag has nothing to do with Ghost Bag at all! It has to do entirely with the "You appear lost" cutscene playing. This makes the content of this video make more sense: youtube.com/watch?v=EyNkSKU6ufs
