Welcome, this is another video with More Gadget Tech Thoughts.
After using the Aoyue 8800 De-Soldering gun for a month when I decided to change the filter design. It easier to clean and maintain and may even be better in the long term then the original design.
Since this video I have been using it for a couple months now. So I will be releasing an update video to see how it has held up and decide if its a better design then the original design.
Be sure to subscribe and change your notification settings so you will be notified when I release the final update video sequel for this.
The ceramic tape I used was original purchased for wrapping 3D Printer Hot Ends, but worked great for this also. This link will take you to the part, you may be able to find it with the same specs in a smaller roll. The dimensions are 1/16" inch Thick by 1" inch wide.
This is for the 50 foot roll, they sell it also in a 25 foot roll but it was cheaper for the 50 ft roll. Then choose product number 87575K84
The main properties that are important are, you might be able to get away with 800° F (426° C) to 1000 ° F (537 ° C), the ceramic tape I have is rated for -50° to 2300° F (1,260 ° C)
I bought the roll from McMaster-Carr Supply Company
