This test bottle I received a few years ago worked well for me, but like all things with batteries they must die. In my case part of the trigger mechanism that starts the timer broke, so I ended up fixing this part and changing the battery at the same time.
To replace the battery only pull off the label on the top of the cap. use a small flat screw driver to pop out the clock timer. remove the 2 small philip screws on the metal tab holding the battery in place. Remember how the battery is placed in, remove the old battery and put the new one in the same direction. Put the metal tab back in place and screws back. replace the timer by snapping it back and put the label back on.
I found out its simple to remove the label on the top and replace the batter.
