Jack Hutton | Anne of Green Gables 1919 excerpt from re creation by Jack Hutton and Linda Hutton @jackhuttonrag | Uploaded August 2011 | Updated October 2024, 3 hours ago.
The original silent movie of "Anne of Green Gables", filmed south of Boston (Dedham) in 1919 has been lost for many years. Jack and Linda Hutton, who own Bala's Museum with Memories of Lucy Maud Montgomery, have spent more than a decade tracking down old movie stills to create Powerpoint presentation that bring the old movie back to life. Jack plays authentic silent movie piano background behind Linda's narration. This got a great response from an international conference on L.M. Montgomery in P.E.I. in 2008. This excerpt shows Marilla meeting Anne for the first time. To get the full story behind the Huttons's continuing project, go to bala.net/museum or contact them at balamus@muskoka.com
This was filmed Aug. 18, 2011 during a showing for the Muskoka Lakes Music Festival at Clevelands House in Minett, Muskoka. John Jackson did the filming.
