Found this old Animaniacs commercial and there is something genuinely surprising buried in it once you dig past the nostalgia.
Konami actually made two completely separate Animaniacs games in 1994, one for Genesis and one for SNES, and despite sharing the exact same title and characters, they play nothing alike. The Genesis version came out in May 1994, and has Yakko, Wakko, and Dot hunting down movie props scattered around Warner Brothers Studios to open their own pop culture memorabilia shop, with a platforming style where you mostly run from enemies instead of fighting them and need all three siblings working together to get through each level. It also became the only Animaniacs game ever released on a Sega console, and later got ported down to Game Boy in 1995.
The SNES version, which came out later that same year, has a totally different plot where Pinky and the Brain steal a movie script during one of their world domination schemes, only for Pinky to scatter all 24 pages of it across the studio by accident, leaving the Warners to track them all down. This version leans into constant movie parody stages, taking on everything from Raiders of the Lost Ark and Jaws to Star Wars and Alice in Wonderland along the way. Critics were honestly split on both versions at the time, generally warmer to the Genesis game than the SNES one.
