"The Seagull" is a soothing melody about the love of the Sea for the Sky; a song composed by Loudovikos ton Anogeion, and performed for the very first time on the ancient lyre.
Using symbolism, Loudovikos tells the story of the sea and how she managed to find a way to reach the Sky and express her love for him.
In this video, Loudovikos narrates the story, and Theodore Koumartzis performs the melody on a LUTHIEROS ancient lyre, masterfully handcrafted in Greece.

🎙️ Who is Loudovikos?
Loudovikos ton Anogeion is a modern storyteller, a Greek musician, and a composer from the village of Anogeia, Crete. He first appeared on the music scene in 1985 as one of the many talented young musicians highlighted by Manos Hadjidakis, one of the greatest Greek composers who ever lived.
Loudovikos briefly describes his life: "I always remember winter as white. I saw the sea for the first time when I was eleven. Since I remember myself, I have wanted to be a painter, and I achieved it in the best way. In 1979 I met Manos Hadjidakis in Anogia. One evening he heard me singing while playing the mandolin with a group of friends. The next day he called me and gave me his phone number [...] He showed me how to paint by writing songs..."
With his warm, gentle voice and the accompaniment of the melodic mandolin, he recorded more than ten music albums, collaborating with legendary musicians such as Dionysis Savvopoulos and Nikos Papazoglou.
In 2022, he discovered the ancient lyre and is currently exploring ways to implement it in his stories and musical tales.

🎙️ Who is Theodore?
Theodore Koumartzis is the youngest brother of the Koumartzis family. Being part of the family's endeavour since its early stage, he soon came to be an inspiring top-notch lyre player, constantly learning and experimenting with musicians around the world.
He is the founder of the PAUSIS Project, a curator at the SEIKILO Museum of Ancient Music in Greece (Thessaloniki), and an integral part of LUTHIEROS Music Instruments.
