Can a melody be based almost solely on harmonics? Boundaries (2021) is an original song for an ancient lyre and an Armenian duduk. It explores the margins between what is possible and what is not when composing for two ancient musical instruments.
The melody is performed by a skilled ancient lyre player, Theodore Koumartzis, and a master of the wind instruments Socrates Votskos. Theodore performs for us on a Lyre of Orpheus (9 strings), lovingly handmade by LUTHIEROS Workshop in Greece.
