"Fragile Peace" is an original melody that emerged during an improvisation between Yael Gat on the flügelhorn and Theodore Koumartzis on a LUTHIEROS ancient lyre, masterfully handcrafted in Greece.
It is a song dedicated to the fragile unity that emerged a few years after the end of World War II when two atomic bombs hit Japan. A unity against nuclear war, a unity that seems even more fragile lately.
The video session took place at the World Peace Bell under the Japanese Pavilion at Volkspark Friedrichshain Park in East Berlin.

🎙️ Who is Theodore?
Theodore Koumartzis is the youngest brother of the Koumartzis family. Being part of the family's endeavour since its early stage, he soon came to be an inspiring top-notch lyre player, constantly learning and experimenting with musicians around the world.
He is the founder of the PAUSIS Project, a curator at the SEIKILO Museum of Ancient Music in Greece (Thessaloniki), and an integral part of LUTHIEROS Music Instruments.

🎙️ Who is Yael?
Yael Gat was born in Haifa, Israel. She began her musical education at the age of 11, studying trumpet with Joseph Neshkes at the Kiryat Yam youth Conservatory. At 18, Yael was chosen for the "Outstanding Musician" program and joined the Army Orchestra playing there as principal trumpet for two years. During that time, she took trumpet lessons with Yigal Meltzer, the Principle trumpet of the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra.
He holds a Bachelor degree in trumpet performance from "The Buchmann-Mehta School of Music" at Tel Aviv University (class of Eran Reemy), and a Master degree from the "Hochschule für Musik und Theater München" (class of Prof. Hannes Läubin and Prof. Thomas Kiechle).
As an orchestra player, she played with many orchestras in Israel, such as The Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, The Israeli Opera Tel-Aviv-Yafo, and The Haifa Symphony Orchestra. In Europe, she played as a Principle trumpet with Das Siemens–Orchester München, Die Bayerische Philharmonie, das Kammerorchester Freising, and Swiss-Israeli-Orchestra.
She performed as a soloist with the Haifa Symphony Orchestra (2008) and The Buchmann-Mehta School of Music (2012).
In 2013 she won the 1st prize in the chamber music competition at "The Buchmann-Mehta School of Music." She has been the recipient of AICF scholarships from 2006 to 2013.
In 2017 she established Duo "Folkadu," which was later structured as a trio. As a front performer in "Folkadu," she sings in Hebrew, Yiddish, and Ladino, playing the trumpet and the shofar, and being accompanied by the accordion and the oud.
With "Folkadu," Yael spread the Jewish traditional and folklore music in Germany and the rest of Europe.
