"Μενεξέδες & Ζουμπούλια" (eng: Violets) is a traditional Greek song, unexpectedly performed here by two ancient musical instruments from two of the greatest ancient civilizations: classical Greece and Mesopotamia.
Both instruments trace their origins in Mesopotamia; the lyre is dated back to the 35th century BC, while qanun was found engraved on an ivory box found in the old Assyrian capital Caleh.
In this video, Theodore Koumartzis performs on a LUTHIEROS ancient lyre, masterfully handcrafted in Greece, accompanying Shingo Ali Masuda on his qanun.
