An étude is an instrumental musical composition, usually short, of considerable difficulty, and designed to provide practice material for perfecting a particular musical skill. Theo Koumartzis studies his Lyre of Orpheus whenever possible, even to accompany LUTHIEROS master luthiers while doing their craft.
Here is Lyre Étude no. 3, and it is part of a series of WORKSHOP Music Sessions, exclusively recorded in the LUTHIEROS Workshop in the village of Europos (Greece), and using entirely premium musical instruments handcrafted by Master Luthiers Anastasios and Jordan Koumartzis.

Theodore is the youngest brother of the Koumartzis family. Being part of the family's endeavor since its early stage, he soon came to be an inspiring top-notch lyre player, constantly learning and experimenting with musicians around the world.
He is the founder of the PAUSIS Project, a curator at the SEIKILO Museum of Ancient Music in Greece (Thessaloniki), and an integral part of LUTHIEROS Music Instruments.
// Who is Anastasios?
Anastasios is the «heart» of LUTHIEROS Music Instruments, the father of the family, an amateur musician (in the sense of the French word), and an accomplished luthier for many decades. Along with his three sons and his wife, Eleni, have managed to create from scratch a worldwide niche luthier workshop specializing in ancient-inspired Greek and Roman instruments such as the lyre, the barbiton, the Kithara of the Golden Age, et cetera.
Koumartzis familia is a musician’s family, nurtured to respect and promote the musical heritage of Greece (both ancient and modern). With many professionals and amateur musicians, scientists with research work, and established authors among their members, they decided to focus on producing top-quality musical instruments from our common ancient world heritage and reintroduce them to the global music community.
