Giorgio Sancristoforo, an Expert Artist for the European Commission and an ancient kithara player. He performs for us a melody of his own, titled Lullaby, on a custom LUTHIEROS Roman Kithara masterfully handcrafted in Greece, and designed in detail by him.
According to modern scholars, ancient Greek lullabies resembled protective magical incantations designed to protect the hearer from the attack of daimonic forces. They had a ritualistic nature and the magical potential to lull an audience to sleep or alleviate the fears of the performer. We can find related sources in the work of Simonides, Theocritus, Plato, and Homer.
This video session took place inside Rotonda della Besana in Milan, Italy, a late baroque building complex, and today an amazing venue for cultural events.

Giorgio is an artist and sound designer born in Milan. He is the engineer of numerous education and experimental music software used by both artists and teachers in more than 40 countries worldwide, such as Stanford’s CCRMA, the BBC Radiophonic Workshop, the Royal College of Music of Stockholm, the TUFTS University, the San Diego City College, the Centro National de las Artes of Mexico City, to name a few. What's more, he is an expert artist of the European Commission.
