Skyrim felt like the right call for this next Evening In, so we’re back in Whiterun’s backyard getting knocked around by dwarven traps and looking for health potions. It’s the day after Thanksgiving, I’ve got a mug of hot chocolate going, and this one drifts between appreciating how good this game still looks and talking about what gaming even looks like when life’s a lot more full. I share a bit about finally caving and picking up a Steam Deck, and why being able to take the same save from my PC to the couch or the bed just makes games fit my life a little better. A lot of this episode ends up being me working through backlog guilt, that weird “must see credits on everything I buy” mindset, and why I want to loosen up in 2026 and just play what actually sounds fun. I’ve been trying to focus more on one game at a time, but also not beat myself up if something doesn’t stick, the same way you don’t force yourself to finish a book you’re not into. Mixed in with the bandit camps and mammoths is some talk about rest, routines, and accepting that you don’t have to min-max every free minute to get value out of this hobby. Hope you’re having a restful holiday stretch, and I’d love to hear what you’re playing on lately—and what your go-to holiday food is. #gaming #gamingcommentary
