Various Amtrak California Capitol Corridor trains running in the South Bay area of San Jose. One of my favorite places to shoot trains in the Bay Area, is Alviso. Located on the Southern end of the San Fransisco Bay, this former fishing village offers the UP Coast Sub running right through it, with 5 crossings in a row. The scenery is also nice, offering views of trains racing through the salt flats of the Bay. I focused most of my time here, filming the various Capitol Corridor and Coast Starlight trains passing by. In addition also included some shots from Santa Clara and the San Jose Diridon Station areas. Thankfully, mostly caught the Amtrak California F59PHI's, however a few Chargers were also seen running. With the last order of Chargers soon to take delivery, this will be the final end to the F59PHI's in Northern California in the not too distant future.
Also managed to catch a pair of the new Altamont Corridor Express SC-44 Charger locomotives running on ACE 03. With the schedule reduced in half, it's no surprise to see their F40PH's not running anymore, but also sad to see yet another commuter railroad bidding farewell to these classic locomotives.
