First, we are eternally grateful for ‘everything’ as RMW enters its 29th year; grateful for continued health, our enduring love of heavy music & for the passion that continues to burn brightly for our work. The excitement of making new memories & sharing new music with our extended Familia hasn’t left us & we realize (as the end draws ever nearer) how much more relevant EVERY interview we complete is. SO, I’m PROUD to share that we are starting off 2025 correct! Let’s do this:
There is a certain level of maturity that comes only through experience, trial n’ error & perseverance; AND, with every tribulation every musician becomes more & more self-aware. They are able to separate themselves from distractions, from influence & even from their own demons to ultimately create their own identity & sound. For some it can take years to complete that journey OR even entire careers, but in the end that is the goal! I’m PROUD to share that San Antonio duo, AMOB has successfully completed that endeavor. Early last year the band’s multifarious EP, ‘Dark Energy’ crossed my desk & I couldn’t have been happier (as a fan) OR more enthusiastic (as a historian) about the future of our scene. ‘DE’ (which officially dropped on April 20, 2024) represents a NEW, ECLECTIC & COMPLEX outlook so strongly that the band has confidently created its OWN genre called, ‘Synthrash’, which encompasses a wide range of strong structures, a conglomerate of guitar riffs/tones, heavy, mosaic drums & a guttural dual vocal attack. AND, after some deep digestion I became quite fond of their sound & knew I wanted to share AMOB with our Familia. SO, on February 8th, 2025, I invited guitarist, Jeremy Vela & drummer, Jason Hernandez over to the RMW Studio. In the interview below you will see us discuss the following: the formation of the band, the name AMOB, the development of their unique sound, recording with Keith Krouse (at Monster Music), their marketing strategy for releasing music, new singles, videos & the SA scene.
