I received this Amaryllis bulb in red wax as a gift at Thanksgiving. As promised, the red wax sealed in the moisture--no watering required! It bloomed within a few weeks. I'm going to remove the wax and plant it with the hope of see it flower again next year. Amaryllis (Hippeastrum) is native to South America and a single bulb can bloom for decades. It also is unusual in that it can bloom before growing leaves.
