A book that defied all my expectations, if I had to describe All the Pretty Horses I would say that it is a gorgeous coming-of-age story.
Cormac McCarthy wrote a moving love story against the beautifully desolate and haunting backdrop of the US-Mexico border where a 16-year-old rancher, John Grady Cole, leaves his native Texas to realize his dreams. The first one in a trilogy (The Border Trilogy), All the Pretty Horses is a novel that will stay with me for a long time.
