In today’s episode of Messianic Myth Check, we’re digging into Book of Genesis 12:3 — the claim that “all the families of the earth shall be blessed” through Abraham is a prophecy fulfilled by Jesus.

Let’s take a closer look.
🤔 The Claim
The argument goes like this:
👉 God promises Abraham that all families of the earth will be blessed through him
👉 Jesus comes from Abraham’s lineage
👉 Therefore… prophecy fulfilled
To support this, we’re pointed to:
Epistle to the Galatians 3:8
Acts of the Apostles 3:25–26
But here’s where things start to fall apart.
⚖️ The Prophecy Scorecard
Let’s run it through the test:
✔️ Forecast? → Kind of
✔️ Future tense? → Yes
✔️ Intentional? → Sure
But then…
❌ Comes directly from God → Category error
❌ “Blessing” is undefined → Could mean anything
❌ New Testament only refers back → Not fulfillment
❌ Claimed outcome doesn’t match reality

The key phrase is:
👉 “All the families of the earth shall be blessed”
That sounds impressive…
But what does “blessed” actually mean?
👉 It’s never defined.
Which means:

And if a “prophecy” can mean anything…
👉 It effectively means nothing.

Populations across the Americas, Australia, and Asia for centuries

Are they all “blessed” in any meaningful way?

✔️ Open to interpretation

So calling this a fulfilled prophecy is…
