Albright Knot - Albright Bend - Fishing Knot - Low Profile Knot to Join Two Different Size Lines.

For More information on the Albright Knot:

This is a rather lovely little knot mainly used on fishing line. However, I can not see why the Albright bend cannot be used on larger cordage. The Albright Knot is very easy to tie and very secure once tied - well it must be, as fishermen really hate loosing their fish!
