Albarracin in a small town in the Spanish province of Teruel. It’s well known for its medieval city walls and Cathedral, and is considered a national monument.
However, Albarracin is also one of the most popular bouldering destinations in Europe, and this, of course, is what brought us here.
Five minutes from our doorstep, we had access to some of the best outdoor bouldering we'd ever seen.
We spent our days dragging pads between problems, and returning home only once we were sure we’d run out of energy.
People often say that Albarracin bouldering is the closest you can get to indoor style problems without stepping foot in the climbing gym. It’s certainly seems true that the obvious edges and positive footholds are a lot more accessible for beginners, but we also found our fair share of sloping mantles, and problems requiring the kind of delicacy you might associate with Fontainebleau.
