↡ Fontainebleau 2020 Bouldering Trip ↡
Fontainebleau is a mecca for European climbers. We spent seven days bouldering in Fontainebleau at the start of the year.
This was our first day bouldering in the forest, starting with a frosty sunrise and ending under the soft light our of lamps.
We started climbing at Gorge Aux Chats and tried to find our feet on the rock. I climbed Ric Rac 7a with the help of a supportive crowd.
Next, we moved on to Roche Aux Oiseaux - where our friends had pointed out a few excellent lines. I found myself at home on the short but powerful Satan m'Habite 7a, before Hannah found her own project on Le Mandarin Droite 7a.
As the sunlight began to fade, I started to make progress on Le Mandarin 7a. But it needed a little more energy than I had left - and it gets added to the long list of projects to return for.
I've made several short films from our trip - trying to find a balance between classic 'send' films and storytelling. This is a labour of love, but I really enjoy sharing our experiences in the forest.
