This skill video demonstrates the steps for stabilizing an object using webbing, ropes, chains, or come-along.
1. Attach webbing, ropes, or chains to anchor points on the aircraft.
2. Secure the webbing, ropes, or chains to anchor points such as large trees, intact utility poles, bombproof anchors, adequate sign posts, bridge parts, or apparatus with wheels chocked. Careful thought must be given when selecting ropes, chains, or webbing to make sure the device selected is fit for the task in condition and ability.
NOTE: Any webbing, rope, chain, or cable must be rated for the load for which it is intended.
3. Remove slack from the webbing, ropes, or chains.
4. Evaluate and maintain the tension of the stabilization equipment used.
NOTE: The more redundant the number of anchor points and devices, the more stable the aircraft will be.
CAUTION: Do not over tighten the first several straps as this may cause the object to shift.
