This skill video demonstrates how to perform various driving exercises.
NOTE: This skill sheet does not include step-by-step instructions to perform road tests, but simply a checklist of each skill required to meet the standard. A pass/fail point system may be determined by the AHJ, if desired.
1. Drive through loose or wet soil.
2. Climb a steep grade (30 percent).
3. Descend a steep grade (30 percent).
4. Drive along an area with limited sight distance.
5. Drive over and through a series of vehicle clearance obstacles (height, width, undercarriage).
6. Perform a limited space turnaround.
a. Place the apparatus in drive.
b. Drive into the opening of the course, moving to one side or the other.
c. Begin the turning process, making as many direction changes as needed to turn the apparatus 180 degrees without striking any cones.
d. Drive the vehicle back through the opening of the course.
e. Bring the apparatus to a standstill, braking smoothly and without skidding.
7. Drive along a side slope (20 percent side to side).
