Meet Isabella Miller, the 1st AD behind Come the Dawn, as she shares the considerations that go into shooting in a historical location and collaborating with the crew to bring the vision of this ambitious period piece set in the 1800s to life. The role of the 1st AD on set is fundamental and involves ensuring all safety protocols are followed, scheduling the shoot, including preparation and packing time, and ensuring the crew has everything in place to do their work as planned.
The Bachelor of Arts Screen: Production Graduation Year 3 Productions culminate three years of learning, commitment to story and honing the craft. The graduation projects are driven by students’ ideas instead of the set briefs proposed through the various production exercises led during the course.
Come The Dawn was directed by Veronica Vedovato and produced by Lauren McConnell last year. Veronica said about Come the Dawn:
“Through the making of this film, we found our distinct and vibrant voices, which we’ll continue to use for the rest of our careers. As it turns out, mine happens to be bright pink and set in 1886.”
