In Episode 10 John shares many insights into the imaginal as a part of the psyche/soul that can help us move towards our aspirational selves as well as open up aspects of the world to us in profound and real ways.

_______

Philosophical fellowship

Context: You can read about the sage ahead of time, or share why you picked the text.

1) Pick a Reader and a passage, and pick an order for the group.

2) Slow Reading - The Reader reads the passage, trying to afford the passage sinking into the them. How can I read this so it will sink as deeply as possible into everyone.

3) Chanting - The Reader will pick a line and chant in speech, melodically if you want, that pivotal phrase. Everyone will do the chant, trying to enchant each other, pick up the resonance of each other, not mechanically, trying to convey in the chant what is coming up for you as you resonate with the pivotal phrase and the whole of the text.
Chant 4 times

4) Short speech - Everyone says no more than 3 sentences, trying to convey as much as you can in those 3 sentences the perspective of the author, almost as if you’re summoning the author, not for the text but to internalize the sage and enter into dialogue with him or her. How are they being presence, what’s being evoked, invoked (emotions, associations), provoked (what’s problematic, what’s questionable)?
4 rounds

5) Engaged speech - can speak for about but no more than 3 minutes; trying to connect the passage to something from your personal memory, encountering the passage, the person behind the passage
1 round

6) Free speech - just in a flowing manner, trying most to invoke the sage, resonate with that perspective while we resonate with each other about how we’re encountering the sage. So that we can help each other. Remember that the sage isn’t just in the text, he or she is in the responses of the other people.
