National Reconciliation Week (NRW) 2026 takes place from 27 May to 3 June and recognises the importance of building respectful relationships between First Nations peoples and non‑Indigenous Australians. The week marks two significant milestones in Australia’s reconciliation journey: the 1967 Referendum and the High Court Mabo decision. This year’s theme, ‘All In’, is a call for shared responsibility and practical action.
NRW 2026 coincides with the release of the Defence First Nations Commitment, which sets out Defence’s long‑term, enterprise‑wide approach to strengthening outcomes for First Nations peoples across employment, inclusion, wellbeing and economic empowerment. The Commitment aligns with national priorities, including Closing the Gap, and supports Defence capability and culture objectives.
