The Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) joined counterparts from the United States and United Kingdom from 2 February 2026 for Exercises Red Flag Nellis 26-1 and Bamboo Eagle 26-1 in the United States. RAAF participation involved approximately 200 aviators, six F-35A Lightning II and one E-7A Wedgetail aircraft.
Led by the United States Air Force’s Air Combat Command, these exercises focus on large force employment with a variety of scenarios in the Nevada test and training range and long-range missions to training ranges and maritime areas in the western United States.
Exercise Red Flag Nellis is regarded as one of the world’s leading air combat exercises, providing essential training experience and generating highly effective air power as part of an integrated, focused force.
