Addition of sodium carbonate to aqueous solutions of some metal ions

High School Chemistry

AQA A Level Chemistry

Sodium carbonate solution was added to aqueous solutions of salts of some metal ions

Sodium carbonate solution was added to aqueous solutions of Fe2+, Cu2+, Fe3+ and Al3+

All concentrations approximate:

iron (II) ammonium sulfate, 0.1M
copper (II) sulfate, 0.1M
iron (III) chloride, 0.1M
aluminium sulfate, 0.1M
sodium carbonate, saturated

The iron (II) ammonium sulfate gave a much paler green colour precipitate compared to the dark green precipitate given by iron (II) sulfate with sodium hydroxide in a previous video.
