Transforming flat cardstock into something that looks like it has life and movement is all about the layers. Using @tim_holtz Distress Paints is a terrific way to build realistic depth on your die cuts and give your card that painterly feel.
Check out how @cheiron took this flower from a simple cut out to a dimensional bloom by painting it with a solid layer of paint and then building shadows and contrast with a detail brush to make her card project really pop!🌸
Supplies:
Tim Holtz Distress:
-Paints: Wild Honey, Spun Sugar, Victorian Velvet, Aged Mahogany, Scattered Straw, Shabby Shutters, Crushed Olive, Lucky Clover, Shaded Lilac, Tumbled Glass, Black Soot
-Sprayer
-Watercolor Cardstock
-Collage Medium
-Archival Ink Black Soot
Ranger:
-Artist Brushes
-Heat Tool
-Mini Ink Blending Tool
-Domed Foam
Sizzix Blossom die
Foam Tape
Directions:
- Cut out die cut pieces from Distress Watercolor Cardstock.
- Paint die cut pieces.
- Let dry or dry with heat tool.
- Adhere die cut pieces together using Distress Collage Medium.
- Mix paints to create colors to add shading to flowers and leaves. Let dry or dry with heat tool.
- Add Shaded Lilac and Tumbled Glass Paint to glass mat and spritz with water using Distress Sprayer.
-Swipe panel through paints. Let dry or dry with heat tool.
-Splatter panel with Black Soot Distress Paint. Let dry or dry with heat tool.
- Ink edges of panel with Distress Archival Ink.
-Stamp sentiment onto panel and adhere panel to notecard.
-Add Blossom die to card using foam tape.
