Action-angle (AA) coordinates are a traditional tool in celestial mechanics dating to its very beginnings in the 17th century. In modern terms, AA coordinates are a specific spectral solution of the equations of motion of a given conservative system. I will show how AA coordinates are constructed for black hole geodesics (test particle orbits) and how they will help to efficiently generate EMRIs and possibly other binary inspirals.
