Extract Dialogue 2 and DeVerberate 3 are two quite different tools from Acon Digital, but they share one strength: excellent dialogue reverb reduction. In this video, Paul walks through real examples to show where each plugin wins.
First up, Extract Dialogue 2 tackles a recording with both noise (a reversing truck) and room reverb at the same time. Its automatic voice, reverb, and noise faders clean the take in seconds, and the multi-out feature lets you route each element to its own aux for further balancing in your DAW.
Then it's DeVerberate 3's turn, working on dialogue recorded in a small, reflective space with an awkward resonance. Paul demonstrates the Early Reflections Filter and its Learn mode, the Emphasis curve for targeting problem frequencies, and Spectral Smoothing for cleaning up artifacts, ending with a complete mute of the reverb. He also shows the Other algorithm in action on a non-dialogue source, reducing reverb on a gunshot recording.
